Nelson’s Nuggets: What’s So Special About the Creation of Man?

Hey Guys! I hope you’re excited about the first edition of Nelson’s Nuggets!

Last week Nelson taught on Romans 5:12-19. He was talking about the first Adam and asked the congregation an interesting question:  What was different about the way God created man?

There were several answers that were were spot on – God breathed into us, He made us in His image, etc.

But Mr. Philip zeroed in on something I’ve never thought about:

According to Genesis 1, God spoke all of creation into existence, but when it came to man, he “formed” him with his hands.

How  incredible to think that God sculpted the first man with his own hands!

I wondered if this was just for Adam and Eve, but there are instances throughout the Bible that say otherwise:

David says so in Psalm 139: 13 and 14:

“For you formed my inward parts;

    you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Wonderful are your works;

    my soul knows it very well.”

and Isaiah 44:24:

“Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer,

    who formed you from the womb:

“I am the Lord, who made all things,

    who alone stretched out the heavens,

    who spread out the earth by myself…”

This thought blew my mind.

Our creation was personal and intimate to God. He chose to get his hands dirty for us!

This is so indicative of how much God, the Creator of everything, loves us and wants to be involved in our lives. Friends, He knows us and wants to be known by us.

Again, mind blown! Does this revelation that God formed us with His very own hands change the way you view your relationship to Him?
